Psychometric assessments are a standard and scientific method used to measure individuals’ mental capabilities and behavioural style. Psychometric tests are designed to measure candidates’ suitability for a role based on the required personality characteristics and aptitude (or cognitive abilities).
In short, they provide insight into the staff — i.e. what motivates them, their core strengths and limitations, self-motivation, being competitive, taking charge, influencing customers’ opinions and activities, and interpersonal and rapport-building skills. A benefit for the Salesperson is increased self-awareness. A better understanding of how their behaviour impacts on others improve their ability to build effective relationships.
Prior to completing psychometric, I didn’t put much through in their importance or how pivotal they would ultimately be in my journey of personal development
They typically fall into 3 categories:
Personality assessment
Personality tests gather information about an individual to make inferences about personal characteristics
Cognitive assessment
Cognitive tests are all about measuring your competence and intellectual capabilities.
Domain or Skill assessment
These play a critical role in testing domain-specific work or technical knowledge to establish a baseline for acquiring a job.
I will highlight the challenges of using Psychometric assessments before we recommend them… while cognitive ability tests tend to be successful predictors of performance, the validity of personality testing is more controversial. In essence, everything should be taken with a pinch of salt

The above are some of the recommended assessments we recommend for you to try if you have noticed we have used the work assessment throughout this piece because it’s important to note that there are no right or wrong answers in the manner by which a traditional test would lead to. We implore you to answer the questions as openly and truthfully as possible in order to get the most accurate findings
Once you have your answers we would recommend that you look at the potential strengths and limitations to the findings. This is where you can focus your energy on improvement. A peeve of advice I was given was to double down on your strengths snd be aware of your weakness
As stated earlier one of the most important takeaways from these assessments if the gift of self-awareness
