Start of another weekend. After a week of working and thinking about what was going to be covered in this weekends content, I arrived early.
Today we had a great session by Kay on the topic of creating innovative business solutions, vague title I know however I took a lot from it. Kay has had experience working for corporate firms and now has her freedom with Purposeful Group. Some of the amazing content that she made us aware of was mapping out the user journey in 3 stages: Attraction, activation, and retention. For us, it was understanding our value proposition and how it was key to have a niche offering that’s unique to our demographics so we speaking directly to them which was both the attraction and activation part. Kay and I brainstormed and came up with what we think is a great value prop opener “getting jobs made easy”, hopefully in the near future my team and I will run an AB test on the home page to see if either that or your current headline leads to more sign-ups. The next part which was important for us is outlining the 5 features that we hypothesized our customers will love and then outlining what our MVP needs to have. It was great to map out what we currently have and what we hope to see if there’s a need for in the future. We covered so much with Kay as I’m typing this out I’m excited to go over my notes and go over her slides in case I missed any gems
As thought as that was to follow up we were fortunate enough to listen to a keynote on “How mindfulness can take your start-up to the next level” by a member of the YSYS team Muhammad Malik. I’m aware of the trend of mindfulness today with the apps such as Calm/headspace coming to popularity, however, the idea of using it mindfulness for your start was crazy. Even more so to use meditation on a subconscious level to visualize your customers and their NUX. I’ll admit I wasn’t sold on the idea of medication, I fell asleep and could only visualise myself seeing Giraffes but I did notice something important. A feeling of calmness post-meditation which added clarity to my thinking which is something I’ll be using a lot more often
After food thoughtsÂ
Post the accelerator I grab some food with some of the members of FeedbackSwap. Wow. Great team and a great idea, the most enjoyable part of this accelerator are the conversations with the cohort. You can switch from the topics such as what anime you watched growing up to UX of a page in less than a second. With your startup being such an important part of your life which for the most part people you interact with won’t understand it’s refreshing to be around people who just get it.

Talk to you soon ✌🏿
